Revamp : Golden House Mala Xiang Guo Restaurant

The Ask

Golden House (‘Shwe Eain’) is a new Mala Xiang Guo and Beer joint, waiting to make a household name at the corner of Mya Lan and U Chit Maung Road. The family-run restaurant asked 16’96 Concepts to keep the atmosphere raw, and uniquely oriental. They wanted their place to feel inviting, almost a hole-in-the-wall feel so that they could truly differentiate themselves from the other Mala eateries in town.   

ဆယ့်ခြောက်ကိုးဆယ်ခြောက်ကို ဆက်သွယ်လာတဲ့ ရွှေအိမ် Golden House က ရန်ကုန်မြို့မှာ လတ်တလောမှဖွင့်ခဲ့တဲ့ မိသားစုစတိုင်နဲ့ မာလာရှမ်းကောကို အဓိကထားရောင်းပြီး ဘီယာလဲအေးအေး ဆေးဆေးထိုင်သောက်လို့ရတဲ့ မြလမ်းနဲ့ဦးချစ်မောင်လမ်းထောင့်ကစားသောက်ဆိုင်အသစ်ပါ။

စားသောက်ဆိုင်တစ်ခုရဲ့ အဓိကအချက်က ခင်းကျင်းထားတဲ့ ပရိဘောဂတွေမဟုတ်ပါဘူး။ ဒါပေမဲ့ ဘယ်လိုပရိဘောဂတွေသုံးထားလဲဆိုတာက ဆိုင်ထဲဝင်ဝင်ချင်းမြင်ရတဲ့ပထမဆုံးအရာဖြစ်နေတဲ့အတွက် ဖြစ်သလိုလုပ်လို့မရတာတော့အမှန်ပါပဲ။ ဆိုင်ရဲ့အခင်းအကျင်းပေါ်မူတည်ပြီး စားသုံးသူတွေဝင်လာချင်မလားမလာချင်ဘူးလားဆိုတာကို အနည်းနဲ့အများသက်ရောက်မှုရှိနိုင်ပါတယ်။

Drawing Board

With its existing raw concrete flooring, yellow canary-colored walls, and redbrick countertops, the space already exuded significant character. The interior signalled to us that the furnishings should be kept visually simple and light. Their ceramic bowls and chinoiserie cutlery meant that the tables and chairs had to be in line with the restaurant’s oriental narrative.

ရွှေအိမ်ဖက်ကလိုချင်တာက အာရှစတိုင် ခေတ်ဆန်ဆန်ပုံစံပါ။ သူတို့ရဲ့ဆိုင်လေးကို ဒေသခံမိသားစုစီးပွားရေးလုပ်ငန်းဖြစ်ကြောင်းနဲ့ အခြားမာလာရှမ်းကောဆိုင်တွေလို အခမ်းအနားအပြင်အဆင်တွေနဲ့ မဟုတ်ပဲ ရိုးရိုးလေးပဲလိုချင်တယ်လို့ပြောလာပါတယ်။ ကွန်ကရစ်ကြမ်းပြင်အကြမ်းထည်နှင့် အုတ်နီရောင်မီးဖိုချောင်ကောင်တာတွေက ဆယ့်ခြောက်ကိုးဆယ့်ခြောက်ဖက်က ထည့်သွင်းစဉ်းစားပေးရမဲ့ နဂိုရှိပြီးသားအရာတွေပါ။ ရွှေအိမ်ကို လုပ်ပေးချင်တာက အမြင်မှာ အရမ်းမဆန်းပဲ ဘယ်ဟာနဲ့မဆိုတွဲဖက်ရင် လိုက်မဲ့ ပရိဘောဂတွေပါ။ မြေညီထပ်မှာခင်းကျင်းထားမဲ့ ထိုင်ခုံစားပွဲတွေဟာ နေရောင်ထိနေတဲ့အခါ ဧည့်သည်တွေကို ဝင်ရောက်စားသုံးဖို့ ဖိတ်ခေါ်နေသလိုဖြစ်စေချင်ပါတယ်။ တစ်ချိန်ထဲမှာပဲ ညဖက်ရောက်တဲ့အခါ အေးအေးဆေးဆေး ဘီယာသောက်ရင်း မာလာရှမ်းကောစားလို့အဆင်ပြေအောင်လဲ ပေါ့ပါးတဲ့ ပရိဘောဂဒီဇိုင်းမျိုးတွေလုပ်ပေးဖို့ စိတ်ကူးရခဲ့ပါတယ်။

We designed three concepts -- Da Ote Chaik, Ba La Chaik, and Pha Ote Htote -- three themes that could easily mix and match. Curved furnishings like Da Ote Chaik table, chair, and stool, can make a room really sing by softening harsh corners, while straight-edged furnishings like Ba La Chaik and Pha Ote Htote can often bring structure and definition, hence brings a crisp impact.

အဲ့လိုဆုံးဖြတ်ချက်ချပြီးတာနဲ့ ရွှေအိမ်နဲ့လိုက်ဖက်မဲ့ ဓဦးချိုက်၊ ဗလချိုက်နှင့် ဖဦးထုပ်ဆိုပြီး ဒီဇိုင်းသုံးခုဆွဲပေးဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဒီဇိုင်းတွေကို သဟဇာတဖြစ်ပြီး balance လဲဖြစ်အောင် တစ်ခုကို လေးထောင့်၊ နောက်တစ်ခုကို အဝိုင်းပုံစံဒီဇိုင်းလုပ်လိုက်ပါတယ်။ မျဉ်းဖြောင့်တွေနဲ့လေးထောင့်ကျတဲ့ ဗလချိုက်ကတည်ကြည်တဲ့ခံစားချက်ကိုပေးပြီး လုံးဝန်းသဏ္ဍန်ရှိတဲ့ ဓဦးချိုက်စားပွဲနဲ့ကုလားထိုင်များက နွေးထွေးဖိတ်ခေါ်တဲ့ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်မျိုးကိုဖန်တီးပေးမှာပါ။
